Frequently Asked Questions
HOW LONG ARE PSYCHOLOGY APPOINTMENTS?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes.
HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED?
Unfortunately, there is no magic number of sessions that works for everyone. Sometimes, short-term therapy (6 - 10 sessions) is all that’s required. For others, regular, ongoing therapy for a number of years is necessary. Once you start working with your psychologist, they can discuss what the therapy process might look like for you.
WHAT CAN A PSYCHOLOGIST HELP ME WITH?
Psychologists can help with a wide range of concerns. Click here for a list of common concerns that we can help with.
HOW MUCH DO APPOINTMENTS COST?
The session fees vary depending on the type of session you are booking and how you are planning to pay. Please see our fees page for more details.
HOW OFTEN WILL I HAVE APPOINTMENTS?
This varies for each individual. Most clients begin with fortnightly appointments. If needed, your psychologist may suggest moving to weekly or monthly sessions. Your psychologist can discuss the frequency of appointments with you in your intake appointment and will set up a schedule that works for you.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
No, you don’t need a referral to see a psychologist. You can contact us and book an appointment here. However, to receive a Mental Health Care Plan and Medicare rebates, you do need a referral from your GP.
WHAT IS A MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLAN (MHCP?)
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a plan you make with your GP when discussing your referral to a psychologist. With a MHCP, you can access 10 psychology appointments per calendar year through Medicare. Medicare will provide you a rebate after each session that will cover part of the costs for the appointment.
